In July 2022, OpenTable surveyed more than 1,000 people in the U.S. and Canada to ask them how inflation has affected their dining out behavior. We also asked them what they’re doing to respond to rising prices and who they think should cover rising food costs–restaurants or diners.

This data report gives you the insights you need to make sense about how these macroeconomic factors impact the restaurant business. These numbers can help you make decisions about whether to increase prices, how to talk to guests about changes, and whether to charge an automatic gratuity.

We hope these insights—as well as the daily updated data on our State of the Industry hub—give you the information you need to help your business thrive.
